ASAP’S METAMORPHOSIS PROJECT // WASHINGTON, CT

Jenna has spent the past six years developing Metamorphosis, an adaptive curriculum for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students that incorporates the arts, design and engineering into science and social studies classes. She sees her students each day for two weeks, during which they participate in a variety of projects that encourage exploration of materials, observation, hand-eye coordination, motor skills, creative problem solving, teamwork and active play. Students work individually and in groups to explore art, design and science practices before addressing real-world environmental and political issues with creative solutions. Jenna’s Metamorphosis curriculums vary with each new set of students, with the aim of honing areas of student underperformance and interest. The classroom is a safe and active learning environment for children to discover themselves and their value as artists, designers, scientists and engineers. Metamorphosis is currently being scaled for use across a variety of teaching methods and schooling styles.
